The streaming platform Twitch announced upcoming updates during its event “TwitchCon San Diego 2025,” held from October 17 to 19 in San Diego, USA.
First, a beta version of “Dual Format Streaming,” which enables simultaneous broadcasting in both horizontal and vertical formats, will be made available. This feature has been undergoing trial use since August on select channels and will enhance the flexibility of live streaming experiences for viewers on mobile devices and PCs alike.
Additionally, Twitch plans to implement live streaming functionality from Meta’s AI glasses, thanks to ongoing integration with Meta. Adjustments to the Twitch mobile app are currently underway, with an update expected within the next few months.

Twitch Announces Future Service Expansions at 10th Anniversary TwitchCon San Diego

Twitch, the world’s largest live-streaming service provider, recently held the global event TwitchCon San Diego 2025 from October 17 to 19 in San Diego, USA, marking the 10th anniversary of TwitchCon.

It featured diverse programs including live performances, creator lounges, meet-and-greets, and game demo zones—offering fans a chance to celebrate the journey of TwitchCon together.

Key updates announced during the keynote speech at TwitchCon San Diego include:
1. Launch of Beta for Dual Format Streaming
○ The beta version of a new layout supporting simultaneous horizontal and vertical broadcasting—previously tested since August on select channels—is now available.
2. Enabling Stream Broadcasting from Meta’s AI Glasses
○ As part of new initiatives to create fresh streaming experiences, adjustments are underway in the Twitch mobile app to allow live streams directly from Meta’s AI glasses.
3. Strengthening Support for Creators
○ Providing more creator-led promotional opportunities: In the future, creators will have additional chances to promote their subscriptions around milestone events such as stream anniversary dates.
○ Expanding sponsorship availability: More Twitch affiliates and partners will be enabled to run ad campaigns through expanded sponsorship opportunities.
4. Introduction of New Roles: “Agent (Representative)” and “Lead Moderator (Moderator Supervisor)”
○ Starting in November, new moderation permissions will be introduced to make content management easier for creators.
○ Agents will gain access to view creator analytics and revenue data; Lead Moderators will have the ability to manage moderators and adjust their settings.
