Digital Extremes today (October 16, 2025) released its major update “Undermind of the Canyon” for Warframe across all platforms.
This update introduces a new cinematic quest designed for early-game players, developed in collaboration with Sumo Digital. The quest guides players through learning the equipment mod system under the tutelage of Teshin, the Tenno’s mentor. Available after completing “The Treasure of Vor,” it rewards players with a new weapon—the Thornbak Rifle.
Additionally, the 62nd Warframe “Nokko” has been added. Nokko fights using toxic mushrooms that periodically release spores and mushrooms that boost allies’ defense. Players can obtain her by gathering schematics and materials through “Nightcap Request Missions,” or instantly unlock her on the Warframe Market using Platinum.
Other additions include the new area “Deepmine,” a rework of Oberon, and a limited-time free giveaway (October 16–22).

Creative Director Rebecca Ford said:
“Working on Warframe feels like being a perpetual student. For the past 12 years, we’ve continuously learned how to best serve both new and veteran players. We recognize that the game wasn’t always easy for newcomers to jump into—but over this past year, we’ve taken that ‘challenge’ seriously. Achieving balance between delivering satisfying content for new players and seasoned veterans through an update like Undermind of the Canyon has been both fun and difficult.
With our new quest “Mentor,” players can finally learn how to use mods effectively. We’ve also added a brand-new mission area beloved by existing players, bold Warframe concepts, and additional story fragments—so come learn the art of mushroom mastery!”
New features in the “Undermind of the Canyon” update:
■ New Cinematic Quest: “Mentor”
A new cinematic quest for early-game players, developed in collaboration with Sumo Digital. Players learn the equipment mod system under Teshin’s guidance as their mentor. This quest marks a significant step toward improving onboarding for new players. Available after completing “The Treasure of Vor,” it rewards completion with the new Thornbak Rifle.
Note: This quest can be completed only once per account.
■ 62nd Warframe: Nokko
Introducing Nokko, a fungus-themed Warframe with unique abilities. She hurls toxic mushrooms that release spores periodically, summons defensive mushrooms to boost allies’ defense, and can transform into a small Sprowdling form for rapid healing and invulnerability. She also launches explosive “Ballistic Mushrooms” that bounce off surfaces and detonate upon contact. Nokko is available free of charge by collecting schematics and materials through the “Nightcap Request Missions,” or instantly unlocked on the Warframe Market using Platinum.
■ New Area: Deepmine
A new mission area, a fresh character, and an immersive environment filled with hidden lore—the Deepmine—has been added. The new mission vendor “Nightcap” leads Tenno deeper into Fortuna’s newly discovered depths. Recording mushroom collection progress in Nightcap’s “Gathering Log” unlocks rank-up rewards. Collecting Fergolyte and offering it to the Mushroom King reveals visions of stories surrounding Deepmine, Nightcap, and Nokko. Access to Deepmine and its associated missions requires completion of the “New War” quest.
■ Oberon Rework & Free Login Reward (October 16–22)
Oberon’s long-requested rework has been implemented, with all players who log in during the event period receiving Oberon for free. The new version of this enigmatic warrior includes: a newly enhanced passive ability to improve healing flexibility; Righteous Negation, which nullifies damage taken; strengthened armor-removal effect on Smite; revised shape of Hallowed Ground’s area of effect; increased ally armor bonus from Renewal; and an overall damage increase for Reckoning. For full details about Oberon’s rework, visit the latest “Dev Workshop.”
