Special Event Page for “Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A”
A major highlight of this event is that the exhibits and stage effects change depending on the time of day. In “Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A,” the city’s atmosphere shifts dramatically between day and night, and this unique world has been faithfully recreated in the venue. Additionally, the trial gameplay varies by time slot.
Daytime Presentation (9:00–16:20): The space evokes the “Wild Zone,” a region designed for coexistence with Pokémon.
Information area. Event details are introduced here, and the “Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A” trailer plays continuously.
Trial area. Up to four players can play simultaneously, but battling the Mega Utsubot requires individual challenges.
During daytime trials, visitors can enjoy exploring the Wild Zone and fighting against the “Mega-Overdrive” version of Mega Utsubot.
The Mega Utsubot is difficult to damage with standard Pokémon moves. Therefore, players must actively collect energy during battle and fill their gauge to maximum capacity in order to Mega Evolve their own Pokémon for effective counterattacks.
Additionally, Mega Utsubot uses tricky and powerful attacks such as spreading toxic sludge that narrows the battlefield—requiring frequent healing to maintain HP. As this was my first time playing the game, I struggled significantly with both timing and controls.

Night Presentation (17:00–21:30): The space transforms to evoke the “Battle Zone,” which emerges in the city at night.
Night trial area. Lighting mimics a red hologram-wrapped Battle Zone.
During the nighttime trials, visitors can explore the nocturnal Wild Zone and experience the online multiplayer content “Z-A Battle Club.”
The rules of this battle mode involve up to four players engaging in real-time Pokémon battles, with rankings determined by how many Pokémon each player defeats within the time limit.
I was fortunate enough to be assigned a device featuring Duraludon—strong from its “Juden” combo—and Lucario, which has easy-to-use yet powerful moves like “Infight” and “Howl.” As such, I easily secured first place without much strategic thought.
In reality, the key appeal of this mode lies in rapidly assessing opponent Pokémon matchups and selecting optimal moves—a crucial tactical element.
The strategic interplay between players in “Z-A Battle Club” is highly engaging.
Only winners of the raffle can enter the announcement and trial zones, but visitors may still view from hallways or take photos.
The display area featuring Chikorita, Pokabu, and Waninoko, as well as the merchandise corner, are open to everyone—though the venue is small and attracts many Pokémon fans. Please be mindful of others when taking photos or moving around.
In short, if you’re visiting Tokyo’s Shibuya during this event period, don’t miss a chance to visit in person.
