VIC GAME STUDIOS’ upcoming action RPG “Limit Zero Breakers” (available on PC, iOS, and Android) was on playable display at Tokyo Game Show 2025, so here’s our hands-on report.
This title, originally known as “BREAKERS: UNLOCK THE WORLD,” has been showcased in playable form at both the 2023 and 2024 Tokyo Game Shows. The current version builds upon last year’s raid battle content but introduces new elements that significantly change gameplay—so let’s dive into what we found.
The raid battles are a feature where players take on massive monsters with a party of three, choosing between two modes: “Solo,” in which one player switches among three characters, or “Multi,” where only one character is played. I opted for the Solo mode.
The enemy this time was the newly introduced Ancient Dragon, and I used the recommended lineup of Kaito, Shion, and Riz.
In the party member selection screen, enemy element compatibility is displayed. Kaito and Shion’s fire attribute are effective against the Ancient Dragon’s weakness, but Riz’s water attribute is marked as a resistance type—making it less favorable. In most games, such a character wouldn’t be included in a team, yet there’s clearly a reason to include her here.
With this setup, I began battle by evading enemy attacks using backstepping and dodging, then unleashed normal attacks, charged strikes, special skills, and ultimate abilities. When timed correctly, parries would trigger, leading directly into follow-up attacks.
The flashy attack effects and cinematic cutscenes during ultimate skill usage are standout features of this game. Image Gallery No.003 thumbnail / Even characters with poor enemy matchups can shine! However, since the raid enemy is enormous and possesses massive health, fighting conventionally would take too long. There’s a separate Break Gauge that must be reduced to zero to knock down the boss and gain attack opportunities—but it isn’t easy to deplete.
This is where elemental attacks come into play: the chain attacks of “Elemental Actions.” In this game, fire and water form one pair, while wind and earth are another. Linking these elements in sequence enables more effective combat strategies.

During the Ancient Dragon fight, I struck it with Riz’s water attack and immediately switched to Kaito, delivering a fire attack—triggering “Damage Boost,” dealing massive damage. What’s interesting is that reversing the order—first using water, then fire—activates “Break Boost,” which drastically reduces the Break Gauge. This strategic use of sequential and reverse element chains appears to be one of the game’s key features.
After Riz’s water attack lands, icons for her element appear below both the health and break gauges, along with an indicator showing that fire should follow next (top). If you hit fire as instructed, Damage Boost is successfully activated (bottom). Image Gallery No.005 thumbnail / Even characters with poor enemy matchups can shine! While engrossed in chaining elements, I failed to dodge a direct hit from the Ancient Dragon and lost Kaito. With no active attacker left, we faced a critical moment—but managed to recover and eventually defeated the boss with a support attack from our allies’ base: “Weaver Lance.”

In action games involving switching party members, I sometimes forget to change characters and end up using just one. However, this game’s elemental system may actually help prevent that oversight—by encouraging players to pay close attention to enemy status, enabling Break Boost knockdowns followed by Damage Boost counters.
Additionally, it’s intriguing that even characters with poor element matchups now have meaningful roles. As an “animation RPG” boasting highly appealing character designs, the game likely encourages players to want to use every character in various situations—supporting the idea of “I want this character available at all times!”
“Limit Zero Breakers” has been on playable display at Tokyo Game Show for three consecutive years, and this appearance marks the final chance to try it before release. Anyone visiting the event should definitely give it a go.
Cosplay photo sessions at the booth were surprisingly popular even during business days. Image Gallery No.009 thumbnail / Even characters with poor enemy matchups can shine! The elemental chain attack system in “Limit Zero Breakers” makes your favorite characters easier to use [TGS2025]
