Mega Crit Games has released the October issue of its “Neoletter,” announcing new details about Slay the Spire 2, scheduled for release by March 2026, on Steam’s news page. This announcement reveals information about a brand-new character making their debut in the game: “Necroviner.”
Necroviner is a rich character who fights using a giant hand called “Osti,” featuring unique mechanics distinct from other characters in the game.
Since Osti is an independent entity separate from Necroviner, it has its own HP and can target enemies different from Necroviner. It cannot be debuffed and may even take damage on behalf of the player at times. Even if Osti is defeated in battle, it can apparently be summoned again.
The revealed cards show abilities such as attacking with a surviving Osti or dealing massive damage while gaining block—by sacrificing Osti’s life instead. The announcement also includes phrasing like “raising” Osti, suggesting multiple potential strategies for its use.
The previously mentioned mechanic, “Doom,” was also introduced. Doom is a debuff that accumulates on enemies—when its value exceeds the enemy’s HP (likely maximum HP), it causes instant death at the end of the enemy’s turn.
Additionally, a new card called “Soul,” which allows drawing cards without spending energy (0 energy), was unveiled. Souls are generated through specific effects and resemble the “Insight” ability from Watcher in the previous game. Building hand size using Soul appears to be a key strategy for Necroviner.
Other notable mechanics were also revealed, including a rare feature that allows changing the nature of cards (by adding different keywords). This enables technical tactics such as applying “Ethereal” to remove cards or increasing costs while adding a Replay effect (likely re-use ability).
The Neoletter also features introductions to new enemies and fan art. For more details, check out the links below.
