From today (September 25, 2025) through September 28 (with general public days on the 27th and 28th), at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, the Toei Animation booth at “Tokyo Game Show 2025” is featuring a mysterious game titled "Momoka Wasso!" (commonly known as “Momoka Wasso”), born from the anime series “Girls Band Cry.”

Why would a game be created for a work already confirmed to receive official game adaptation? Anyone encountering this title for the first time might wonder. The answer lies in an amusing backstory.

When news of the “Girls Band Cry” anime’s video game adaptation was announced, fans began jokingly speculating about what genre it might become—a trend that inspired the animation staff themselves to actually create this very game: “Momoka Wasso.” It emerged from pure creativity and passion.

Carry Momoka on your heads and leap over obstacles toward the sofa! What happens upon successful completion…?

“Momoka Wasso!” is a simple side-scrolling run-and-jump action game. Players control Inazawa Nana and Anwa Subaru, guiding them as they carry their drunken friend, Kawarami Momoka, on their shoulders to the sofa at home. Along the way, players must overcome obstacles such as holes and stacked chairs.

At TGS, you can play the “Tokyo Game Show Version” Thumbnail image for Gallery No. 002 / Why not try “Momoka Wasso!” at TGS and aim to collect the gold statue of Momoka Wasso made by the animation staff? [TGS2025]

The two characters hold Momoka by her shoulders and feet, lifting her high above their heads—an extremely unconventional method of carrying a person. Is it really safe to carry someone upside-down like that…? Beer cans flying in from all directions don’t count as mistakes if they hit you, and can actually be stepped on. However, direct frontal impact will push the trio backward.

Since Nana, Subaru, and Momoka are controlled as a single character unit, their collision detection is quite large—making it easy to accidentally touch beer cans. This adds significantly to the game’s difficulty.

Despite its relaxed appearance, this game is subtly challenging.

Amidst this intense gameplay, hearing Nana’s cheerful “Nice beer!” voice when collecting a six-pack of beer, the dramatic cut-in of Rupa with his suspicious eyes staring at the brew, and the quirky “ni-ku-ma-n” sound effect upon picking up a steamed bun—these moments are deeply enjoyable. Fans who’ve seen the anime will definitely appreciate them.

Even if you haven’t watched the anime yet, we encourage you to experience this surreal charm and get thoroughly confused—and then go watch the series!

On the public days of Tokyo Game Show 2025, an event called “Momoka Wasso Try-Play Challenge” will be held at the booth: complete the demo station and receive either a theatrical compilation film’s first part KV poster (B2 size) or a gold Momoka Wasso statue handmade by the animation staff. The giveaways are limited—once they’re gone, that’s it. So whether you’re confident in your skills or not, we highly recommend visiting the booth and giving it a try!

The booth, with its striking red neon lighting, looks sleek and cool—yet it’s unexpectedly dominated by a bold pop art sign! Thumbnail image for Gallery No. 008 / Why not try “Momoka Wasso!” at TGS and aim to collect the gold statue of Momoka Wasso made by the animation staff? [TGS2025]

The demo station is also red-themed and looks very stylish. The contrast between the cool booth design and the game’s playful, quirky vibe makes you laugh without even trying.

The gold Momoka Wasso statue awarded upon clearing the demo station is remarkable—the beer cans even rest on its base, making it a truly impressive piece.

The Toei Animation booth radiated warmth and heart—clearly showcasing that every staff member deeply loves “Girls Band Cry” and “Momoka Wasso.”
