The Battle Around the Writhing Wall is a one-time event in which players cooperate to break through the Writhing Wall—a barrier blocking access to the cult’s stronghold—thereby unlocking a new region. Progress for each mega-server can be monitored via a dedicated webpage, creating competition among servers to see which will unlock the new area first.

The event is divided into three unique phases: Phase 1, preparing to breach the wall; Phase 2, continuing preparations; and Phase 3, where players enter the Writhing Fortress to unlock the new region. Phases 1 and 2 are open to all players, while only those who purchased the “2025 Content Pass” may participate in Phase 3.

This year’s “Season of the Worm Cult” saga continues the original story of The Elder Scrolls Online. Set on the island of Solstis, the Writhing Wall blocks access to both the eastern half of the island and the cult’s stronghold. In “The Battle Around the Writhing Wall,” players will cooperate to gather supplies, attack the wall, and break through it in order to defeat the Cult of the Worms.

As a first for The Elder Scrolls Online, each mega-server progresses at its own pace during this event. This means servers compete against one another to see which player group unlocks the new region first. Progress across all servers can be tracked via the official website:

The “Battle Around the Writhing Wall” event features three unique phases, each unlocking additional challenges and rewards. In Phases 1 and 2, players collect essential items and defeat various enemies and world bosses to prepare for breaching the wall. All The Elder Scrolls Online players can contribute to progressing through Phases 1 and 2; however, only those who purchased the “2025 Content Pass” will be able to obtain quests on Solstis.

In Phase 3, players invade the Writhing Fortress to unlock the new region. While earlier phases end based on player success rates and participation levels, Phase 3 lasts for one week after the first server clears the fortress, after which the event concludes. This is the only opportunity to fully destroy the Writhing Wall and earn a unique title. Only players who purchased the “2025 Content Pass” can complete this phase and gain access to Eastern Solstis.
