Today (October 15, 2025), Hamster Corporation announced that “Arcade Archives Joyful Road” will be released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch platforms, while “Arcade Archives 2 Joyful Road” will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms on October 16.

“Joyful Road” is an action game originally released by SNK in 1983. Players pilot a mysterious car equipped with arms, collecting fuel and food along the way as they make their journey back home. The objective is to return before running out of fuel. Additionally, players can earn high scores by picking up food items during gameplay and properly disposing of the resulting trash into garbage bins.

Furthermore, an exclusive special feature on “Joyful Road” will be presented in the official live-streamed program “Arcade Archivee”, which airs on release day—October 16 at 7:00 PM.

On October 16, 2025, Hamster Corporation (headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Toshiro Hamada) will announce the launch of new content on the “Arcade Archives Joyful Road,” available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Additionally, “Arcade Archives 2 Joyful Road” will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

What is “Joyful Road”?

“Joyful Road,” originally released by SNK in 1983, is an action game where players pilot a mysterious car equipped with arms. Navigate through the journey, collecting fuel and food along the way as you aim to return home before your fuel runs out. Pick up food items during gameplay—then dispose of the resulting trash into garbage bins for high scores! Practice good habits and enjoy a fun drive!

About the “Arcade Archives” Series

The “Arcade Archives” series is developed with the core concept of faithfully recreating classic arcade games. The collection features customizable game difficulty settings, screen options, rewind functions, rapid-fire controls, multiple save slots, and more—offering convenient gameplay enhancements. Players can also compete globally via online leaderboards.

“Arcade Archives 2” introduces a new mode—the “Time Attack Mode”—in addition to the original modes included in earlier titles: “Original Mode,” “High Score Mode,” and “Caravan Mode.” In Time Attack Mode, players race against time to complete the game as quickly as possible.
