Have you ever heard of the country called Andorra? Nestled in the highlands of the Pyrenees Mountains, which form the border between Spain and France, this tiny nation has a population of just 77,000 people. Although it starts with “A” and thus always appears early at the Olympic opening ceremony, few actually know much about its true identity.

Even in such a small country, passionate game developers exist. Developer TinyPotionTree, based in Andorra’s capital, Andorra la Vella, made its debut at BCN Game Fest 2025 held in Barcelona from October 10 to 12, 2025, showcasing their new quarter-view action adventure game, “Wandersky.”

“Wandersky,” subtitled “Sora no Tabibito” (The Traveler of the Sky), is an adventure game set in the fantasy world of Hyndara—a land where towering mountains rise above the clouds. The protagonist, Kuu, a young archer, travels across this crumbling world devastated by a phenomenon known as the “Oremite Plague,” accompanied by his dragon hatchling companion (or so it seems), Tama. Players explore ancient ruins to solve intricate puzzles and engage in combat while uncovering the mysteries of the world.

The game’s control scheme using a gamepad is quite unique. When shooting with the bow, players hold down the right trigger while using the left stick to aim, releasing the trigger to fire. However, there’s only one arrow available—each time you shoot, you must retrieve it manually.

This becomes troublesome when surrounded by many enemies, but since arrows can pass through multiple targets, narrow passages inside ruins aren’t too much of a problem. During our hands-on session, we struggled at first adjusting to the repeated cycle of shooting and retrieving arrows. Still, rather than just attacking incoming foes directly, players are encouraged to think strategically—how best to take down several enemies at once?

The protagonists travel using a flying ship shaped like a turtle shell, nicknamed the “Xuanwu House.” When embarking on quests, they dock it at caves or ruins before beginning exploration. According to developer Jordi Aragon, this vessel serves as both home and base of operations—players can forge weapons using resources collected from various locations, brew potions, customize interior spaces with furniture, and even enjoy cooking. Although not included in the current demo version, interactions with diverse NPCs are planned, promising a grand adventure unfolding through these encounters.

This game is rich with Japanese-inspired elements—the names of characters, torii gates in the field, and even objects resembling komainu (lion-dog statues) are scattered throughout. The release is scheduled for within 2026. While support for Japanese language has not yet been confirmed, fans eager to explore a vast world from aboard a flying ship should keep an eye on the game’s Steam store page and stay tuned for updates.
