On September 25, 2025, ASUS JAPAN, the Japanese subsidiary of ASUSTeK Computer (hereafter referred to as ASUS), unveiled its new esports-oriented LCD monitor, the ROG Strix XG248QSG Ace (model number: XG248QSG), at the company’s booth during Tokyo Game Show 2025. This display boasts a world-first vertical maximum refresh rate of 610Hz (=610fps).

The product was released on September 19 and has an estimated retail price of approximately 150,000 JPY (tax included).

XG248QSG is a gamer-focused display utilizing ASUS’s proprietary “Super TN” TN-mode panel. It features a 24-inch screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels—standard dimensions and clarity commonly used in esports competitions.

To achieve its 610Hz ultra-fast refresh rate, the panel features a minimum gray-to-gray response time of 0.1ms and an input lag as low as 0.8ms—both exceptionally fast. Additionally, it incorporates ASUS’s proprietary motion blur reduction technology, “ELMB 2,” which helps minimize image ghosting. While some recent displays using IPS panels have achieved vertical maximum refresh rates in the 500Hz range with superior image quality, TN panels still maintain a clear advantage when prioritizing speed.

Judging from the demo footage of “Overwatch 2” shown at the event, even though it’s a TN panel, image quality was not poor. According to ASUS, this model covers 90% of the DCI-P3 color gamut—making it an exceptionally wide color range for a TN panel.

For video input interfaces, XG248QSG includes one DisplayPort 1.4 DSC and two HDMI 2.1 ports. At the exhibition venue, the display was connected via DisplayPort. Regardless of which interface is used, 610Hz output remains possible—offering peace of mind.

The demo PC’s GPU performance appeared insufficient, limiting “Overwatch 2” to just under 350Hz Thumbnail image for Gallery No.004 / Experience the World’s Fastest 610Hz: ASUS’s Super TN LCD Monitor for Esports Pros “ROG Strix XG248QSG Ace” Makes Appearance at TGS2025 [TGS2025]

Achieving 610Hz output requires a high-end gaming PC, depending on the game—making this an expensive investment overall. Therefore, it is not a product suitable for every esports gamer. However, for professional players aiming to secure top results in tournaments and willing to make substantial investments to gain even a slight competitive edge, this monitor represents an ideal choice.
