Success has today (October 16, 2025) released the historical mystery adventure game “Reincarnated Pleasure District: Ghost Traveler].” The PC version is priced at ¥2,400 (tax included), and the Nintendo Switch version at ¥2,640 (tax included). The PC version is available during a launch sale with a 10% discount—reduced to ¥2,160 (tax included)—until October 23.

This game is a visual novel-style adventure set in Yoshiwara, Edo-era Tokyo, where players unravel the mystery behind a murder case.

The protagonist, Sawa Kotaro, becomes a ghost-like entity after encountering supernatural phenomena and gets transported to Edo’s Yoshiwara. While searching for a way back to the modern world, he stumbles upon the murder of a geisha named Haruki and sets out to solve her mysterious death.

Created with the concept of “introducing generative AI technology into game development, blending human creativity with collaborative work between people and AI,” this title uses some generative AI for background images, supporting characters, character voice acting, and language translation.

[Era of Edo’s “Yoshiwara” as a Stage – A Gory Mystery Adventure | Journey back through time, witness the tears of women.]

The player (protagonist Kotaro) arrives in Yoshiwara during the Edo period, bewildered by his journey through time and unaware of how to return to modern life. He wanders seeking clues to unravel the mystery. Eventually, he encounters the murder case of geisha Haruki and begins taking action toward solving it.

The main characters closely connected with geisha Haruki—what hidden threads does this incident reveal?

This game is a visual novel-style adventure where players uncover the truth by repeatedly playing through different scenarios tailored to each major character. Additionally, as you progress in gameplay, an explanatory mode reveals details about daily life, customs, and terminology from late Edo-era Yoshiwara.

[Success’s First! “Generative AI Technology” × “Human Craftsmanship” – A New Development Approach]

This title marks Success’s first attempt at integrating generative AI technology into game development, using a collaborative approach that blends human creativity with AI assistance.

Use of generative AI: Key applications include background images, supporting characters, character voice acting, and language translation. These elements are refined and adjusted by the creative team to ensure high-quality results.

Human craftsmanship: The scriptwriting and character concept development were handled by Hinao Enri (Elephant Co., Ltd.), vocal performance for the theme song “Yoshiwara Hanabi” by Kano Koin, composition and arrangement by Kenichi Arakawa (Success), as well as core elements such as main visuals and character design (by Success). These essential components were created entirely through human effort.
