Calling all beginners and experts in programming!
The official version of “Farmer Was Replaced()” is now available.
An agricultural puzzle game where solving problems and optimizing workflows feels amazing.
On October 10, 2025, Metaroot (based in Zurich, Switzerland) released the official version of the programming agricultural puzzle game “Farmer Was Replaced()”, now supporting Japanese.
Thanks to a launch sale, it’s available at a 20% discount for just 960 yen.
This is an agricultural puzzle game where drones—not farmers—harvest crops. Using commands and functions in a simple programming language similar to Python, players automate every step from crop cultivation to harvesting.
Despite being a serious game, it sold over 150,000 copies during its early access phase, received overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, and has amassed significant viewership across YouTube and other platforms.
The full version now features simultaneous multi-drone operation, large-scale farm management, official translations in 11 languages, and a complete overhaul of sound and music.

■ Harvest crops—but only through your programming!
This game is about cultivating and harvesting crops. However, you don’t do it yourself—instead, drones operate based on your code.
Enter commands and functions using a simple language similar to Python, and the drone will act accordingly: mowing rice fields, growing pumpkins… watch as your diligent drones work hard.

■ Solving problems and optimizing workflows is satisfying! Aim to become the world’s most efficient farmer.
At first, your command options are limited. But as you unlock new skills in the tree, you’ll gain access to additional crops, commands, and functions. Use these tools to figure out how best to harvest the crops before you.
As gameplay progresses, complexity increases—but so does the joy of efficiency and automation. Whether you write “works but messy” code or craft elegant, efficient solutions, there’s no single correct answer. But if you manage to achieve maximum efficiency? It’ll feel incredibly rewarding!

■ Suitable for both beginners and hardcore players alike.
The game includes various explanatory texts to guide you, though task unlocks are not automatic—so thinking critically is essential. While primarily designed for those with programming experience, the thought process it encourages makes it a great fit even for newcomers or children.
And don’t worry, serious players: since this isn’t mission-based, once you’re familiar with mechanics, progress through early stages will be smooth and fast.
Also supported is external editing—using powerful tools like Visual Studio Code is highly recommended. With the File Watcher feature, syncing between your editor and game becomes seamless!
