Square Enix today (October 10, 2025) launched the first installment of its sightseeing-themed puzzle adventure content, “Catrip,” titled “Catrip Ueno.” The puzzle kit is priced at 2,500 yen (tax included).
This experience is themed around “traveling with a cat (Cat) and going on an adventure (Trip),” offering an immersive, walk-through storytelling journey across real streets. Participants use a puzzle kit and the LINE app to follow along as their navigator—a cat named Nyao Yorozu—guides them through collecting commemorative stamps depicting famous landmarks in the area.
The first installment takes place around Ueno Park in Taitō Ward, Tokyo, with puzzles created by RIDDLER, led by Ryo Go Matsubara.
Additionally, thanks to integration with JR East’s app, “JRE WALLET,” participants who complete puzzles and missions will receive digital coupons. As part of a commemorative campaign, the first 1,500 players to participate will also receive a 500-yen discount coupon valid at Ecute Ueno.

“Catrip” is a traveling puzzle real game where players walk through city streets alongside an appealing cat character named Nyao Yorozu. They solve puzzles and experience stories while collecting commemorative stamps—called “Go-Nya-in”—depicting local landmarks.
Today marks the launch of the first installment, “Catrip Ueno.”
This content is integrated with JR East’s app, “JRE WALLET,” granting digital coupons as rewards for puzzle completion. These allow discounts and special benefits at partner shops, enhancing travel experiences with convenience and value.

Explore the city while solving puzzles
Open the kit, scan the QR code, and register for a dedicated LINE account. Read through the story, explore the area, and solve mysteries. -

The cat you’ll meet in Ueno
Born in Nagasaki in 1651.
A kitten born aboard a Dutch ship, later adopted by a scholar of Dutch studies in Ueno and named “Keru” (meaning “cherry blossom” in Dutch). Eventually becoming the leader of Ueno’s cats, he lost his life while rescuing kittens during the Great Meireki Fire. His bravery was honored, and he became known as Nyao Yorozu, guardian cat of Ueno.
