At the ongoing Tokyo Game Show 2025 at Makuhari Messe, a striking demonstration stood out in the densely packed halls 9–11: the “SUPER EMR MOUSE,” developed by Future Create using Wacom’s EMR electronic pen technology.

If you’ve used Wacom Intuos for illustration or video editing, the concept may be instantly clear—but most gamers probably haven’t. Let me briefly explain what this SUPER EMR MOUSE is all about.
By the way, it’s likely many people have played MMOs or strategy games using a Wacom Intuos tablet. I’m one of them.

The SUPER EMR MOUSE is a device that links the mouse’s position on its pad (technically called “mouse base,” though for simplicity we’ll refer to it as the mousepad here) directly and absolutely with the cursor’s location on-screen.

To understand this, think of smartphone or tablet touch operations: imagine your fingertip as the mouse, and the mousepad as the screen. That analogy makes the benefits easier to grasp. While some familiarization is required, once your body remembers the spatial relationship, you can swiftly move the cursor to precise locations. You no longer need a huge mousepad or lift the mouse mid-motion just to cover large distances.
Conversely, if you want to move the cursor from one end of the screen to the other, you can either slide the mouse directly across the pad—or lift it and carry it straight to the opposite side.

The key advantages of Wacom’s electronic pen technology are: no battery needed for the input device, ultra-fast absolute position detection, high-precision measurement of physical movement distance, and absence of optical sensors—eliminating jitter or shake entirely.

Although just a demonstration model, the mouse itself weighs under 40g, making it lightweight. Thumbnail image for Gallery No.004 / New mouse “SUPER EMR MOUSE” based on Wacom EMR electronic pen tech is showcased at Future Create booth [TGS2025]

Moreover, its specs match those of high-end gaming mice:

Resolution: 10–25,600 DPI
Maximum report rate: 1000Hz
Maximum acceleration: Over 100G
Maximum tracking speed: 270 IPS
LoD lift-off height: 0.1–10mm (adjustable in 0.1mm increments)

Now, let’s discuss the mouse base. The SUPER EMR MOUSE is designed so that the mouse base itself serves as the main unit, with a pad placed on top. Any surface other than metal can be used for the pad. Since the surface shape doesn’t affect sensitivity or accuracy, you can choose your pad purely based on how smoothly it glides under your hand. However, avoid excessively thick pads, as they may interfere with the LoD lift-off height—so thinner is better.

The function button on the top-right of the mouse base can be used for DPI changes, etc. However, since it’s positioned at the top-right corner, you’ll need to release the mouse if you want to adjust DPI while using it—so a layout supporting both right-handed and left-handed users would be preferable. One more thing: I also tried a prototype of the pen-style mouse. It features a self-standing base, suggesting Future Create is exploring new form factors. After trying it out, I think this device would appeal to users who’ve used Wacom Intuos not just for comics or illustrations—but as a general-purpose input tool—because it stays upright even when you let go, so you don’t have to place it back in its stand.

Future Create and Wacom are eager to let people try the device firsthand in order to gather feedback. Given that this is still a pioneering design, there’s much they’re discovering through trial and error. If you’re planning to visit TGS, be sure to stop by the Future Create booth (09-E07) and experience this new way of interacting.
