Bandai Namco Entertainment released Pac-Man World 2 Re-Packed on September 25, 2025, for PC (released September 26), Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. This is a remastered version of the original 3D action-adventure game Pac-Man World 2, first released in 2002 by Namco (then). It features updated graphics and new gameplay mechanics. In this article, we present our impressions from pre-release playtesting along with an overview of the game.

The game is set in Pac-Land, the world where Pac-Man and his friends live. At the heart of this land lies a small village called Pac-Village, home to five mysterious “Golden Fruits”—each possessing the power to fill the entire village with fruit.
However, when the Golden Fruits were stolen by ghosts, all fruits disappeared from Pac-Land. Furthermore, the seal on the evil ghost “Spooky,” imprisoned beneath the Golden Tree, was broken. To reclaim the lost Golden Fruits and restore peace, Pac-Man sets out on a grand adventure.
Pac-Land consists of six distinct areas: “Calm Countryside,” “Maze Forest,” “Snow Mountain,” “Volcanic Dungeon,” “Underwater Exploration,” and “Ghost Island”—each containing multiple stages.

The Super Hip Attack activates when performing a Hip Attack at the peak of a jump. It allows Pac-Man to leap higher than usual and stun enemies in range with shockwaves.
Snorkeling enables underwater movement, including diving and surfacing. During snorkeling, players can accelerate using the Dolphin Kick.

Additionally, this version now displays the landing spot for jumps, making it easier to navigate narrow platforms. The Flip Kick can also be used outside of mid-air jumps. These enhanced mechanics allow players to tackle each stage with greater precision and control.

Although not playable during our preview, this title supports local co-op for two players offline. One player controls Pac-Man while the other operates a “Pac-Drone.” The drone assists by collecting nearby dots and fruits, attacking enemies along the way, and helping clear stages—offering valuable support in challenging sections. Note that two controllers are required.
Each world’s boss has unique attack patterns requiring specific strategies to defeat. For instance, Snow Mountain’s boss “Snowy Mech” uses jumping attacks, spinning moves, carpet bombing with missiles, and launching bouncing bombs. Players can damage it by using the Flip Kick to bounce these bombs back at the boss. However, precise timing and angle are crucial—accuracy here is key to success.

The game’s base, Pac-Village, offers various side activities. At the arcade, players can enjoy classic series titles such as Pac-Man, Pac-Mania, and Pac-Attack. There’s also a 3D maze mode for fun gameplay.
At the jukebox, players unlock and listen to all 75 background tracks based on mission completions or game progress.
