Independent developer Kamekichi announced on October 8, 2025, that the full version of his PC software, Grandpa! Cook Me Some Rice! (original Japanese title: おじいちゃん！ごはんつくって！), will be released on November 5—the “Good Grandchild Day”—on Steam. The price is 800 yen (tax included).
This game is a cooking simulation powered by the latest AI (LLM).
The protagonist, prone to reclusiveness, gradually gets pushed by his daughter and grandchildren to cook meals for them. As he’s guided around by his lively grandkids, he meets various people through cooking, rediscovering joy in life.
Players must combine over 200 ingredients with diverse cooking skills to prepare dishes that satisfy their adorable AI grandchildren. The game uses real-world ingredients prepared using authentic culinary techniques—requiring players to manage a budget and make smart choices about food expenses.
AI is used throughout the experience: depending on what’s in your shopping cart, shopkeepers may call out to you; while preparing meals, your grandchildren might chime in with comments or suggestions. These dynamic interactions add depth and immersion.
A demo version is currently available. It allows free play up to Stage 2 of Easy Mode.

The demo offers free access up to Stage 2 of Easy Mode. The full version will include over twice as many stages, along with Hard Mode, a deep-play mode, and replayability features.
