"Space Cobra: The Awakening" Download Version Released Today for PS5 and Switch – Enjoy a Story Based on the Anime Series

Teyon Japan today (October 9, 2025) released the digital download version of “Space Cobra: The Awakening” for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. The standard edition is priced at ¥3,850, while the Gold Edition—which includes the bonus mission “Death Roulette” and the exclusive outfit “Smoking Skin”—is priced at ¥4,450 (both prices include tax). A physical retail version is scheduled for release on December 18.
This game is a side-scrolling action title inspired by the iconic anime “Space Cobra,” originally created by Takehiko Inoue. It portrays the adventures of “Cobra, the Cosmic Pirate,” who wields his psychic gun, based on the first 12 episodes of the original anime series. The PC and Xbox Series X|S versions were previously released worldwide by publisher Microids on August 26.
The entire game features Japanese text and voice acting by Japanese voice actors. In addition to the main story, players can enjoy stages featuring familiar characters from the anime and manga such as Armroid Lady, Jane Royal, and Dominic.
Additionally, a new trailer showcasing the Japanese voice cast has been released in conjunction with this launch.

Teyon Japan Inc. is pleased to announce the release of the digital download version of Space Cobra: The Awakening, a sci-fi platform action game for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.
This is the first side-scrolling action game based on Space Cobra, a landmark anime series produced by Tomosho Entertainment and adapted from the manga “Cobra” by Takehiko Inoue. Drawing from the original 12 episodes of the legendary anime, this title faithfully captures the courage and humor of Cosmic Pirate Cobra, delivering an immersive “fusion experience” between game and animation.

The game features Japanese text and voice acting throughout, performed by a talented cast of experienced Japanese voice actors. Their performances bring to life not only Cobra but also beloved characters from the original work such as Armroid Lady, Jane Royal, and rival Crystal Boy.
Original animated cutscenes appear within the game, and familiar tracks from the opening theme song and background music are featured, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the world of Space Cobra.

Once cleared, stages can be replayed as many times as desired, allowing players to collect hidden items or chase personal best times in pursuit of full completion.

Beyond the main campaign, additional stages let you play as characters surrounding Cobra—such as Armroid Lady, Jane, and Dominic.
Local cooperative multiplayer stages are also included, enabling two players to team up and enjoy time trials or treasure hunts together.

【About Takehiko Inoue】
Born in Asahikawa, Hokkaido. Moved to Tokyo in 1976 and won the Shōnen Jump Outstanding Creation Award for his work Earth, Turn Blue while studying under Osamu Tezuka. His manga series Cobra began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1978. In 1985, he launched a color comic series titled “BAT.” Following the world’s first CG comic, TAKERU, in 1992, he continued releasing hybrid digital-animated works such as COBRA, BAT, and GUN DRAGON SIGMA (with all characters except the protagonist drawn digitally). He has expanded his creative activities into original stories, screenwriting, direction, and game development. His works have been translated and published worldwide, with over 55 million copies sold in total across all formats.
