The statement appears to be a clear denial of rumors circulating on social media claiming that “Nintendo has been lobbying the Japanese government for intellectual property protection regarding copyright infringement caused by generative AI.” The same message was issued in both Japanese and English.

In addition, the statement affirmed: “Regardless of whether generative AI is being used or not, Nintendo will take appropriate action against any entity it determines to be infringing upon its IP.”
