Inverse Atelier has announced its upcoming PC title, AXERAS, on October 2, 2025. The game will support five languages including Japanese, with Japanese voice acting also planned.

AXERAS is a new title that bills itself as a “turn-based tactical military JRPG,” inspired by classic tactical games and acclaimed JRPGs. Players take command of a unit caught in an internal war, fighting to survive the chaos of conflict.

The game features a combat system centered on leveraging the unique traits of infantry, vehicles, and support units. The strategic use of each unit’s skills becomes decisive in determining victory or defeat. While players can advance their characters through promotion after winning battles, fallen soldiers are permanently lost—adopting a “permadeath” (permanent death) system that demands careful management.

Inverse Atelier, a Malaysian indie game studio founded in 2022 by Zachary “Xenika” Lim, has announced its upcoming turn-based tactical military JRPG. The game combines the aesthetic of anime confronting profound themes, authentic voice acting, and hand-drawn storytelling to create an immersive experience. A free prologue demo will be available on Steam in November 2025.

In AXERAS, players command the elite unit Acorns (Acorns Company), caught in a merciless civil war within the nation of Evestria. Playing as young Lieutenant Johannes Trofiedel of the Evestrian military, you must lead your squad through wartime chaos and make difficult decisions that shape both battlefield outcomes and the fates of your soldiers. Every choice carries consequences—and survival comes at a cost.

Inspired by classic turn-based tactical titles and iconic JRPGs, AXERAS reimagines the genre for modern audiences with emphasis on combined arms combat, moral dilemmas, and player-driven storytelling. To triumph over enemies, players can deploy infantry units, advanced combat vehicles, request devastating airstrikes, and utilize drones. Success hinges not only on eliminating opponents but also securing strategic locations that shift the tide of war. The introduction of the secret weapon AXERAS dramatically alters the course of conflict.
