Shochiku Games has announced that the demo version of “Below the Crown” will be available on Steam from today (October 2, 2025), through November 10.

This title is marketed as a “completely new strategy roguelike chess game” from Misfits Attic, the developer behind the strategy game Duskers. Set in a bizarre, darkly humorous world, it features strategic battles on the board and procedurally generated events. The early access version is scheduled for release later this year, in Q4 2025.

The demo allows players to enjoy the initial dungeon and training area, as well as take on daily challenges and player challenges (including viewing replays from other players). Additionally, it has been confirmed that the game will participate in Steam Next Fest: October 2025 Edition.

Shochiku Games, a division of Shochiku Corporation’s game business unit (hereinafter referred to as “Shochiku Games”), is pleased to announce the release of the English-language free demo version of the darkly humorous strategy roguelike chess game Below the Crown on Steam. The free demo includes access to the initial dungeon, training area, daily challenges, and player challenges—including viewing replays from other players. Additionally, this title will participate in Steam Next Fest: October 2025 Edition. Take advantage of this opportunity to experience the game ahead of its planned early access release on Steam later this year.
