Today (October 2, 2025), Nintendo has released the Nintendo Switch game “[Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2].” The price is 7,980 yen (tax included). A standalone digital version is also available for each title at 4,500 yen (tax included).
This title is a compilation of two games originally released for the Wii: “Super Mario Galaxy” (2007) and “Super Mario Galaxy 2” (2010), allowing players to once again experience Mario’s adventures set in outer space.
The game features full HD graphics, with textures for characters and stages upgraded to high resolution.
Additionally, a new “Assist Mode” has been added. This mode increases Mario’s health and allows him to return to his previous position when he falls—making it easier for beginners to enjoy this action-packed adventure.
From a convenience standpoint, the game now includes an auto-save feature, as well as a skip video function (already available in the Wii version of “Super Mario Galaxy 2”), making retrying much more convenient. Text and icon displays have also been enhanced with higher resolution for improved visibility on large screens.
An additional feature is that new stories have been added to the in-game “storybook”, which players unlock as they progress. In “Super Mario Galaxy,” a sequel to Rosetta’s story has been added, while “Super Mario Galaxy 2” includes the full four-chapter tale of twin character Chico.
Moreover, a new feature allows players to freely play any in-game BGM directly from the title screen. With 154 tracks across both games—including newly added songs—players can enjoy an extensive soundtrack.
Although this game is released for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo also offers a free update that further enhances graphics resolution specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2.
