Dovetail Games today (September 26, 2025) has launched early access for pre-purchased Deluxe and Special Editions of Train Sim World 6 (available on PC / PS5 / Xbox Series X|S / PS4 / Xbox One). The official release and free Starter Pack distribution are scheduled for October 1.
This title is the latest installment in the realistic train simulation series, “Train Sim World,” allowing players to experience real-world railway operations. Centered around the theme of “Unexpected Developments,” it introduces customizable random events and vehicle breakdowns that can be toggled on or off. Additionally, station announcement features have been implemented across three main routes, enhancing immersion during gameplay.
The standard edition includes the following routes:
- The Riviera Line in England
- The Leipzig to Dresden line in Germany
- The Morristown Line in the United States
The Deluxe Edition adds new rolling stock including the cross-country “Voyager,” Dual Power ALP-45 locomotive, and BR 294 shunting locomotive.
Future downloadable content is planned, including new routes from Portugal and the Czech Republic, a new U.S. route, and an upcoming release of Japan’s Tadami Line.

On Friday, September 26, Dovetail Games (Kent, UK) announces the release of its highly anticipated title, Train Sim World 6. The game’s theme—“Unexpected Developments”—awaits players as they operate a diverse range of trains across three new routes, fully experiencing the charm of rail simulation. From classic to cutting-edge locomotives, players can hone their driving skills on challenging tracks.
Free Starter Pack: Available from Wednesday, October 1
The free Starter Pack is available for both first-time players and existing users of Train Sim World 6. Once obtained, it remains permanently in your library and can be used alongside existing add-ons or as a starting point for building a new collection.
The Starter Pack includes the “Training Center” and core features of Train Sim World 6, making it an ideal package for enjoying the game.
- New players can learn to operate various vehicles using the Training Center.
- Existing players can continue using previously purchased add-ons on the same platform and account, and additionally purchase new updates or TSW6-compatible add-ons.
To use: Search for “Train Sim World 6” in Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, or Epic Games Store, select a bundle that includes the free Starter Pack, then choose either “Download” or “Add to Library.” Note: The free Starter Pack does not include additional routes or vehicles. For broader gameplay experiences, purchase add-ons separately or opt for the full Train Sim World 6 bundle.
The Starter Pack is available exclusively from Wednesday, October 1 to Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

Early Access: Playable from Friday, September 26—Five Days Ahead of Launch
Today, September 26 (Friday)—five days before the official release—players who purchased the Deluxe or Special Edition can experience Train Sim World 6 early with all new features. Key additions include toggle-able random events and vehicle breakdowns, ensuring that each run offers a unique experience. Even unexpected issues like signal delays or speed restrictions are accompanied by in-game guidance to help players resolve problems and safely resume their journey.
Additionally, immersion is enhanced through fully implemented onboard and station announcements on three major routes, with audio announcements during stops and departures.

Aligned with the theme of “Unexpected,” this release introduces new routes and vehicles:
- USA: Enjoy a coastal journey along New Jersey’s outskirts using both vintage and modern trains operated by NJ TRANSIT(R).
- UK: Speed along the scenic Riviera Line—ranked one of England’s most beautiful railway lines—with the long-awaited return of the GWR brand to the series.
- Europe: Experience diverse operations between Dresden Station and Europe’s largest station, Leipzig Hauptbahnhof—including freight, passenger, high-speed, and shunting services.
For the first time, all three routes in the Deluxe Edition feature new rolling stock: the much-requested cross-country “Voyager,” Dual Power ALP-45 locomotive, and powerful BR 294 shunting locomotive.
Future Content Roadmap
Upcoming add-ons will include new routes from Portugal and the Czech Republic, a new U.S. route, and an official first gameplay reveal of Japan’s Tadami Line. All previous routes and vehicles remain fully compatible with Train Sim World 6.
