At Tokyo Game Show 2025, one booth that caught attention with a “wow” factor was Alliance Arts’ stand featuring Yunyun Denpa Syndrom. The booth stood out with neon-style decorations and large visuals, clearly conveying its unique atmosphere even from afar. On the final day, there was already a long queue for demo play—players waited about an hour just to get a turn.

The booth’s massive radio tower drew eyes from far away. On the last day, queues formed for demo sessions, with wait times reaching approximately one hour. The demo began with the protagonist enjoying a livestream by the streamer “Yunyun.”

After the opening sequence, it transitioned to the title screen. Just as players were about to begin gameplay, clicking “NEW GAME” produced strange behavior—instead, they were prompted to choose “LOAD DREAM.”

This led to discovering a memory titled “Episode: 01 - The Beginning of the Signal.” Clicking it established a connection with Yunyun, triggering a dialogue scene.

The conversation depicts interactions between a reclusive protagonist and her favorite streamer, Yunyun. The screen mimics a PC desktop interface, with social media and chat windows popping up rapidly. While the pacing is light-hearted, surreal and unsettling phrases are sprinkled throughout, creating an atmosphere of simultaneous anxiety and exhilaration.

Guided by Yunyun’s provocative words—“I want you to feel even more heart-pounding”—the player soon dives into a rhythm game segment.

Rhythm game controls are simple—use the [S/D/K/L] keys to hit notes—but difficulty fluctuates dramatically with each track.

While Normal mode was manageable, “Binnbin” quickly increased in challenge. On the likely highest difficulty, “For Addicts Only,” I was completely overwhelmed by a flood of notes. Yet despite frustration, enjoyment outweighed it, leaving behind an inexplicable sense of exhilaration.

The soundtrack includes both new tracks and past radio songs. Titles like KOTOKO’s “Ne~… shiyou yo!” and “Princess Brave!” appear, surely evoking nostalgia for those who remember the era.

The result screen features unique evaluations beyond score—such as “Heartbeat Level” and “Yunyun Intensity”—showcasing how deeply the game’s world is intertwined with gameplay.

Scores are joined by “Heartbeat Level” and “Yunyun Intensity” ratings (both were low, somewhat embarrassing). Image Gallery No.008 thumbnail / Immersive hands-on report of “Yunyun Denpa Syndrom”: Dive into room exploration filled with radio songs and hidden jokes [TGS2025]

After completing the rhythm section, the “Room Exploration” icon now bore an exclamation mark.

Curious, I entered the protagonist’s room—only to be surprised by how messy it actually was. The sheer sense of lived-in reality struck me immediately.

In this space, hovering over posters and merchandise displays triggers short comments, adding a playful touch.

Additionally, sparkling markers were scattered throughout the room. Clicking them unlocked new CDs—evidently, more CDs are gradually added as players clear rhythm game levels.

Could a “!” mark be a sign that a hidden CD is nearby? Image Gallery No.011 thumbnail / Immersive hands-on report of “Yunyun Denpa Syndrom”: Dive into room exploration filled with radio songs and hidden jokes [TGS2025]

Later, I learned that CDs can also be found in the desktop’s “Recycle Bin.” The game even reportedly includes a “parent-proofing function.” Though not noticed during demo play, subtle humor and hidden jokes are scattered throughout—revealing a playful design evident down to the smallest details.

After exploring the room, one thing became clear: an obsessive devotion to Yunyun runs through the entire game. The protagonist’s fixation on “Yunyun”—a being both angelic and demonic—is vividly portrayed as she speaks directly from the screen. Whether she truly exists in reality or is merely a figment of the protagonist’s imagination remains ambiguous, casting an unsettling shadow over the narrative.

The overall experience blends rhythm gameplay with visual novel-style dialogue scenes and a faintly horror-like atmosphere. This combination results in an unusual, distinctive gaming experience that defies simple description.

Moreover, the game is prepared for players worldwide: single-player only, fully voice-acted in Japanese with subtitles. It will also support English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.

Yunyun Denpa Syndrom uniquely fuses surreal dialogue scenes with satisfying rhythm gameplay—offering a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. While accessible even for those not skilled at music games, dedicated players are rewarded with challenging charts like “For Addicts Only.” Hidden elements such as room exploration and secret CDs add extra layers of fun, making the game feel designed to make you crave more “radio waves.”

With its bustling booth presence at TGS 2025, this title truly stood out. With a release scheduled for later this winter, anticipation is building—what kind of “radio experience” awaits in the final version? I can hardly wait.

Additionally, a closed beta test for official Discord participants is planned soon. If you’re interested, be sure to check it out.
