In this follow-up to the first developer interview video (related article), game director Federico Cardini and Milestone’s development & creative director Michele Caletti take center stage to explain the core gameplay mechanic of the title: the “Echo (Echo) System.”
The Echo System consists of two main components: “Sync” and “Entropy.” Sync accumulates when players perform active shifts—timing gear changes correctly—to supplement automatic transmission. Sync is a versatile resource that can be used for boosts or as shields against enemy attacks. This means both driving skill and precise timing directly benefit the player in both racing and combat scenarios.

Entropy is generated when Sync is used and serves as the energy source for offensive mechanics: “Strike (Strike)” and “Overdrive (Overdrive).” Strike enables short bursts of powerful attacks capable of destroying enemy vehicles. Overdrive grants temporary speed boosts and shields, but crashing into walls during this state causes your vehicle to explode—requiring careful strategic decisions.

As a versatile resource, Sync can power boosts or act as shields against enemy attacks. Thus, both skillful driving and precise timing directly benefit players in both racing and combat.
Crucially, using Sync generates Entropy. This energy fuels offensive mechanics: “Strike (Strike)” and “Overdrive (Overdrive).” Strike delivers brief but devastating attacks capable of destroying enemy vehicles. Overdrive grants a high-risk, high-reward state with increased speed, temporary shields, and the ability to destroy opponents—but crashing into walls during this mode results in your vehicle exploding, demanding strategic judgment.
Strike consumes part of Entropy, while Overdrive consumes it entirely; where players choose to use these abilities can decisively influence outcomes.
