On November 7, 2025, ASUS Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of ASUSTeK Computer (hereinafter “ASUS”), announced that it will launch in late November the gamer-oriented OLED display model ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W, capable of achieving an exceptionally high vertical refresh rate—up to 540Hz at a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, and up to 720Hz when switching to dual-mode operation at 1280×720 resolution. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price has not yet been disclosed.

OLED panels inherently support extremely high refresh rates. For some time, display engineers have predicted that OLED displays designed specifically for gaming would soon surpass the speed of traditional TN or IPS LCD panels, marking an era where “high-speed performance comes with OLED technology.” The arrival of the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W makes this vision a reality.

As previously mentioned, the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W features a 26.5-inch white OLED (WOLED) panel with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. It boasts a peak brightness of 1500 cd/m² and an impressive contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1—far surpassing conventional LCD panels. The display is also certified under VESA’s HDR standards as “DisplayHDR True Black 500,” making it HDR-compatible. A special low-reflective coating called ASUS’s “TrueBlack Glossy” has been applied to the panel surface, reducing glare from ambient light without altering color accuracy.

The monitor supports AMD’s proprietary display synchronization technology, FreeSync Premium Pro, and has earned NVIDIA’s G-SYNC Compatible Monitors certification. It also complies with VESA’s Adaptive-Sync standard, enabling smooth, stutter-free visuals not only on PCs but also when connected to gaming consoles.

Its design is notably distinctive. Leveraging the inherent thinness of OLED panels, the display panel itself is extremely slim, while the overall color scheme unifies all elements in silver tone. The rear unit housing cooling systems and processors features a half-cut, translucent (skeleton-style) design with an angled finish—adding to its striking appearance.

Additional features include “Aspect Ratio Control,” which allows the display of content only within a 24.5-inch portion of its 26.5-inch screen—specifically designed to match standard e-sports tournament monitor setups for professional players.

Although this will undoubtedly be an expensive monitor, those seeking a display capable of ultra-fast refresh rates exceeding 500Hz and the superior image quality inherent in OLED technology should not overlook the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W.
