A retro gamer from Taiwan has created a custom-designed case that integrates a cathode-ray tube (CRT) TV with the Nintendo Family Computer (FC) and Super Famicom (SFC), posting photos of it on Facebook. The nostalgic-looking design allows users to enjoy retro games all in one unit.

The creator is Taiwanese retro gamer Li Ruisheng (link). Engaged with the retro gaming community, Li aimed to share not only classic games but also innovative ideas using vintage equipment. After five years of work, he completed this original case.

The case appears designed for exhibition at event venues. In addition to housing a CRT TV, it features built-in handles—a clever touch. When displaying retro game consoles at events, replicating the original environment often requires securing and transporting bulky CRT TVs, plus dealing with setup and connections. With this unit, users can simply carry it by its handle, plug in power, and play immediately—enjoying the authentic look including the characteristic screen “bleed.”

The hood section of the case is styled to resemble the FC and SFC designs. Photos show ROM cartridges installed (though it’s unclear if they’re functional). The FC side includes four controller ports on the front, enabling multiplayer gaming.

Some Facebook users have asked whether it will be commercially available, but Li clarified: “It’s not a product. I made it for public display so anyone can play for free.” He emphasized that this is a personally crafted project with no commercial intent. His community also offers the case for free loan at exhibitions.

The design cleverly incorporates the original hardware’s color scheme while maintaining a retro feel, evoking nostalgia and warmth. Combining game consoles with TVs dates back to the 1980s, with official products like the “Family Computer TV C1” (FC + TV) and “SF1” (Super Famicom + TV). Even today, CRT TVs are still used at retro gaming exhibitions and tournaments—suggesting that demand for such innovative cases remains strong.
