On October 29, 2025 (US time), AMD released the driver software “AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 25.10.2” (hereafter referred to as AMD Software 25.10.2) for GPUs from the Radeon RX 5000 series onward and APUs equipped with RDNA architecture or later.
The AMD Software 25.10.2 is a WHQL-certified version, supporting the new titles “Battlefield 6” and the newly released action RPG “Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2”. Since AMD has not highlighted any performance improvements for either title, it’s safe to understand this release simply confirms compatibility with these games.
Additionally, AMD Software 25.10.2 now supports the low-cost laptop APU “Ryzen AI 5 330.” Although the Ryzen AI 5 330 was launched in July 2025 and thus feels somewhat overdue, products already include this chip. However, it’s likely that this is the first official AMD Software version to support this APU.
Other notable additions include new Vulkan extensions supporting FP8 in shaders via “VK_EXT_shader_float8,” among others—primarily aimed at improving AI performance.
One point of concern lies within the release notes: a statement mentions that support for new titles and new Vulkan extensions is available only on the Radeon RX 7000 series and Radeon RX 9000 series (i.e., RDNA 3 generation and later).
In relation to this, AMD Software has previously been distributed as an integrated package for RDNA-generation products. However, with version 25.10.2, separate packages are now used: one for the Radeon RX 6000/5000 series, and another for the Radeon RX 7000 series and later. As a result, driver packages designed for the Radeon RX 9000/7000 series can no longer be installed on systems with the RX 6000/5000 series (and vice versa). Users of Radeon GPUs or AMD APU-equipped devices should therefore verify their specific hardware model and download drivers directly from AMD’s official driver download page, or install via “AMD Install Manager.”
Regarding RDNA 2 and earlier generations: there is no indication in the official information that support for new titles has ended. Given how early this would be to discontinue support, it’s reasonable to treat the absence of these older architectures in this update as an exception.
That said, further separation between driver packages may continue in future releases.
Other important notes include:
- When downgrading drivers, use the “AMD Cleanup Utility.”
- The USB Type-C charging feature on Radeon RX 7900 series GPUs is disabled. For users who need this function, AMD recommends using version AMD Software 25.3.1.
- Special “magic strings” can be used in SBIOS to disable specific video codecs at the hardware level. While details remain unclear, this feature appears to allow hardware-level disabling of certain video codecs via magic strings.
AMD Software 25.10.2 includes many changes and addresses multiple vulnerabilities—including a critical flaw allowing easy access to graphics memory from other user processes (CVE-2023-4969), commonly known as “LeftoverLocals.” AMD recommends all users of AMD GPUs update to this version.
