Digital Extremes’ online TPS Warframe (available on PC / PS5 / Xbox Series X|S / Nintendo Switch 2 / PS4 / Xbox One / Nintendo Switch / iOS) received its latest major update, “Undermind of the Canyon,” on October 16, 2025. This update introduces Warframe #62, Nokko, and new player-friendly content called “Mentor.” Here’s our play report on how this long-running title has become even more accessible.
Before diving into Nokko, let’s first highlight the new content for newcomers: “Mentor.”
Warframe has been in service for 12 years now and, as a result, contains an enormous amount of content. For newer players, this can make getting started feel overwhelming—especially when it comes to understanding how to use MODs, which are attached to weapons and Warframes to enhance their abilities.
The newly added “Mentor” quest acts as a tutorial that introduces the fundamentals of using MODs. It becomes available after completing another tutorial quest titled “Vor’s Treasure.”
In the Mentor quest, players meet a character named Teshin, who guides them through understanding MODs. Under Teshin’s instruction, you learn how to attach MODs to weapons and assign elemental attributes. Enemies in Warframe have specific weak points—exploiting these allows for efficient takedowns. While individual elements exist, combinations of multiple elements can create hybrid effects. For instance, equipping a MOD that grants both cold and electricity properties results in the combined attribute: “Magnetism.” Teshin teaches you how to effectively combine such MODs, while also guiding you through processes like breaking down or upgrading them during the quest.
The “Mentor” story is structured across three quests, including cinematic sequences. You meet Teshin and are tested on your potential as a Tenno. And you learn all about MODs. Completing the quest rewards you with the Thornbak Rifle, a ranged weapon worth obtaining—definitely not a bad addition.
Incidentally, Teshin remains involved in later storylines. Longtime players might think, “Ah, so that’s where they’re setting up future interactions!” Be sure to explore as you progress through the game and see how things unfold.
She looks cool but her mushroom-like appearance is adorable—those around her are younglings, who also appear in-game, scurrying about Nokko’s side. The new 62nd Warframe, Nokko, is based on mushrooms and has a very cute appearance.
Nokko is tied to the newly implemented “Deepmine,” which grants access to an underground world beneath the Orb Canyon on Venus—the domain of “Fortuna.” This area hosts thriving fungal lifeforms that have developed their own unique ecosystem.
Nokko’s abilities are all inspired by mushroom traits.
“Stinkbrain” throws spores, creating toxic mushrooms at impact points. These mushrooms periodically emit poisonous spores, inflicting damage and status effects on nearby enemies while also inducing sleep.
“Brightbonnet” also launches spores but generates rejuvenating mushrooms upon impact. It emits periodic pulses that restore energy to Nokko and allies within range, temporarily boosting ability power.
When deploying mushrooms, you can revive yourself independently—just place one during combat for peace of mind. Thumbnail image for Gallery No.014 / [Play Report] “Nokko,” the 62nd Warframe, and new player content “Mentor” debut in the latest update “Undermind of the Canyon” for Warframe 【PR】
Nokko’s passive ability, “Vital Decay,” is unique: it enables revival when you’re downed. Normally, taking lethal damage results in a knockout—but if mushrooms are deployed, Nokko instantly transforms into an infant form and can revive by touching any active mushroom within the time limit. This makes mistakes forgiving and greatly enhances usability.
The small figure in the lower left is Nokko’s juvenile form—ideal for stealth since enemies won’t target it. Thumbnail image for Gallery No.015 / [Play Report] “Nokko,” the 62nd Warframe, and new player content “Mentor” debut in the latest update “Undermind of the Canyon” for Warframe 【PR】
Additionally, Nokko can transform into this juvenile form using the ability “Reroot.” While transformed, you become invincible and gradually recover health. This is a great way to escape tight situations.
The infant forms resulting from “Vital Decay” and “Reroot” are incredibly cute—just for that reason alone, it’s worth checking out.
Sporespring tracks enemies, explodes on impact, then bounces to hit nearby foes—the damage increases with each bounce. It’s extremely powerful when thrown into dense enemy groups. Sporespring is an ability that tracks enemies, explodes on contact, and then bounces to hit additional nearby foes. When touching mushrooms deployed by Stinkbrain or Brightbonnet, it increases pulse frequency. With multiple bounces possible, launching this into a crowd can deal massive damage.
From firsthand experience, Nokko feels intuitive and easy to use—once you deploy mushrooms, you’re essentially safe from being taken down. This allows for highly specialized MOD builds. You can attack safely using Sporespring while hiding with Reroot—making her an excellent choice for beginners.
Deepmine missions are accessible via Nightcap. Thumbnail image for Gallery No.011 / [Play Report] “Nokko,” the 62nd Warframe, and new player content “Mentor” debut in the latest update “Undermind of the Canyon” for Warframe 【PR】
Blueprints for Nokko are obtained by collecting “Fargolight” from Nightcap through Deepmine missions. Of course, they can also be purchased with Platinum.
We mentioned that fungi thrive in Deepmine—enemies are sometimes shown as fungal-infected, and Corpus forces equipped with anti-fungal gear appear too, giving the area a unique look. During missions, various special mushrooms with different effects appear, making for fun gameplay gimmicks. Definitely worth experiencing firsthand.

Beyond Nokko, this update also introduced deluxe skins for Wukong and Lavos.
The “Wukong Qitian Collection” features a xianxia-style design inspired by Chinese tradition—making the original Wukong even more stylish and cool-looking.
Meanwhile, the “Lavos Khymia Collection” gives Lavos a more chemically enhanced appearance with alchemy-inspired visuals, intensifying his arcane atmosphere.

Furthermore, starting October 28th, “Nightwave: Dreams of the Dead” has launched—by completing challenges, players earn Credo as rewards, which can then be exchanged for various items.
With the addition of a new tutorial quest, “Mentor,” Warframe has become even more accessible. Frequent updates continue to expand its content with no signs of slowing down.
