Today (October 31, 2025), Nintendo has begun releasing the version 1.4.0 update for its music streaming service, Nintendo Music, available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.
This update enables songs from “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” to automatically play according to the current time. By tapping the “Play at Current Time” button in playlists such as “Sunny Day,” “Rainy Day,” or “Snowy Day,” tracks will now begin playing based on real-time conditions.
Previously, users could manually extend songs up to one hour using the “Time Stretch” feature, but there was no automatic function that adjusted playback timing. As the “Animal Crossing” series is known for its music changing in real time with the game’s environment, this update makes it easier than ever to experience a day on the island.
Additionally, “Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” is scheduled to release on January 15, 2026, and a free update (version 3.0) for both Nintendo Switch 2 and original Nintendo Switch has also been announced.
The update includes numerous new features such as the addition of hotel management mechanics, collaborations with LEGO, The Legend of Zelda, and Splatoon—be sure to check them out.
