Electronic Arts held a stage event at Tokyo Game Show 2025, taking place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on September 26, 2025, to present the single-player campaign of Battlefield 6 (available on PC / PS5 / Xbox Series X|S). Developers took the stage, showcasing live gameplay and answering questions from attendees.
This marks the first time since Battlefield V that a single-player campaign has been included in the Battlefield series, as the previous title, Battlefield 2042, did not feature one.
For context, the Battlefield series originally lacked a proper single-player campaign. While “single-player-like modes” existed—essentially CPU-controlled battles using the same maps and rules as multiplayer—they were merely variations of multiplayer gameplay with AI opponents.
The first true single-player campaign was introduced in Battlefield: Bad Company, released for home consoles, and has been included in most subsequent titles.
Although the single-player mode is often viewed as a supplementary feature given that multiplayer remains the core focus, it still holds strong appeal among fans. The fact that nearly all post-Bad Company entries have featured such campaigns underscores its popularity.

The battle takes place in Gibraltar, where players utilize amphibious vehicles, hovercrafts, helicopter support, and close air support from aircraft to land. After landing, the action transitions into urban combat—advancing through city streets while protecting an infantry fighting vehicle.
What’s particularly interesting is that there’s no single fixed approach to completing missions. Players can choose to break through enemy lines head-on, flank opponents from the side, or simply demolish buildings en route. This flexibility perfectly reflects the signature Battlefield style of letting players use their own creativity in combat.
During the Q&A session, developers answered questions from attendees.
When asked about key focus areas in the single-player campaign, they emphasized creating a world that conveys Battlefield’s signature grit and adrenaline-fueled gameplay through characters players can genuinely connect with—reflecting their desire to make fans fall in love with this unique experience.
The decision to revive the single-player campaign stemmed from a vision to create an unprecedentedly large-scale Battlefield experience. In their view, both multiplayer and single-player campaigns are fundamental pillars of the franchise’s identity.
Additionally, maps featured in the single-player campaign are connected to those used in multiplayer. For instance, the Gibraltar map in multiplayer shows buildings already destroyed—indicating it takes place after the events of the Gladiator Operation.
At this year’s Tokyo Game Show 2025, Electronic Arts’ booth is featuring the single-player campaign as a playable exhibit worldwide for the first time. The competition to play may be fierce, but anyone visiting the event should definitely try it out.
