Square Enix streamed its information program for the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV—the 89th FFXIV Producer Letter LIVE (hereafter, PLL)—on October 31, 2025.
The hosts were Takeshi Yoshida, producer and director of FFXIV (left), and Toshio Uchimura, global community producer (right). On the broadcast day, coinciding with Halloween, Mr. Uchimura made a special appearance wearing a Mogu headband.
This time, under the theme “Patch 7.4 Content Showcase Part 1,” details of Patch 7.4: “The Ideal Realm in Mist (Arcadia)” were revealed. Given that its release is nearing year-end, for the first time ever, the schedule—including the official patch release date—was disclosed ahead of time.
Before diving into Patch 7.4 details, the team also announced additional content for Patch 7.38, scheduled to launch on November 11th. A new decorative item has been added to treasure chests in the Alliance Raid “Return to Ivalice,” tied to the release of Final Fantasy Tactics: Ivalice Chronicles. Incidentally, some behind-the-scenes anecdotes about that title’s release were also shared.

Patch 7.4 Content Details
With the official release date now revealed, other related schedules were also announced.
A note of caution: The launch of “Heaven’s Seat Arcadia: Heavy Duty Zero” will be delayed until January 6, 2026—three weeks after the new year. Since the official name hadn’t been confirmed at this stage, it was labeled as “Arcadia, Part 3” in the image.
Although initially considered for a late-December release, developers ultimately decided that launching early in the new year would be safer should any issues arise during deployment.
Here are the main new contents being introduced in Patch 7.4.
● New Main Story
Four screenshots from the new main story were revealed, with glimpses of the background scenery from the upcoming new instance dungeon featured among them.

● The Adventurer’s Tale: Golden Edition
Three screenshots from “The Adventurer’s Tale: Golden Edition” were unveiled. As always, the scenes are delightfully absurd and unexpected.

● New Instance Dungeon: “The Forgotten Path - Mistwake”
The new instance dungeon is titled “The Forgotten Path - Mistwake.” Though the screenshots show a somewhat dim appearance at first glance, it’s actually slightly brighter in practice. Lighting adjustments are also possible.

● New Trial & Oblivion Fight: “The Oblivion Fight Against Grasharabolas”
Its theme appears to be the summon monster of the same name from Final Fantasy VIII. The exact circumstances leading up to this battle remain unclear, and it’s hard to imagine what kind of fight awaits.

● New Raid Dungeon: “Heaven’s Seat Arcadia: Heavy Duty”
As previously mentioned, the normal version will launch alongside the patch release date, while the Zero version is set for January 6th—three weeks later. This content will also be introduced in next week’s PLL. Ahead of that, some details about popular cosplayers from the fighters’ faction were revealed.

● New Phantom Fight: “Phantom Tsukuyomi Oblivion Fight”
Though the battle itself is intense and demands full attention, the previously praised scenic background from Tsukuyomi’s fight returns at level 100 difficulty.
● Other Updates
The “Scouting Operation: Zemur Fortress” and “Mist March: Orlamveil” will now be supported by Content Supporters.
In the PvP update, a new map named “Warko Chee” is being added to Frontlines. This map features dynamic weather changes such as snowfall and auroras—elements that are expected to influence gameplay. More details on this upcoming addition will be revealed in next week’s PLL.

Regarding the Phantom Weapon update, item level has been increased to 775. Producer Yoshida also stated: “We’re considering changing our approach for future ‘Next’ updates, so this might be the last ‘This’-style upgrade for Phantom Weapons.”
In relation to the Phantom Weapon update, new jobs and accessories are also set to be added to Crescent Isle. Additionally, entrance requirements for Fork Tower will be effectively relaxed.

● New Variant Dungeon: “The Merchant’s Tale”
A newly announced variant dungeon titled “The Merchant’s Tale,” with a pop-art style concept illustration—turns out, this is actually the in-game environment. The adventure will involve entering a book (a picture book?) of the same name and exploring its world. The NPC companion accompanying players appears to be related to Ya Shutra.

The above image illustrates previous variant dungeon structure. For “The Merchant’s Tale,” the normal variant dungeon features will remain unchanged, but a new tier called “Advanced Variant Dungeon” has been added.
An Advanced Variant Dungeon is a boss battle content where players can choose one of three pre-designed bosses to challenge individually. The goal is to defeat all three in succession within a single attempt. Players may exit at any time and receive individual rewards for each defeated boss, but the challenge requires 2–4 player party participation.

Above this level, a new “Another Dungeon” has been introduced. This content will involve battling three enhanced versions of the Advanced Variant Dungeon bosses in sequence (though not via conveyor-belt style; each battle occurs in separate rooms that players must move through themselves). The mechanics have also changed, and high-difficulty combat is expected.

● Other System Updates
A new system update will rename the previously known “Whiteboard” function to “Strategy Board.” This feature helps explain battle movements and tactics, allowing created content to be shared by entering a unique code. It can also be displayed during gameplay, enabling players to follow strategies in real time. The team will demonstrate it using actual gameplay footage next week’s PLL.

• New UI: “Quick Panel”
The newly unveiled UI, the “Quick Panel,” is a new 5×5 interface with four pages. Any item that can be placed on a hotbar can now be added to this panel.
It’s designed for items you don’t use frequently but still want readily accessible—players can place icons of the desired page onto their hotbars and close it immediately after use.

• Weapon Projection Update
The weapon projection update removes most class, job, and level restrictions. Players can now project any item they own—though for weapons, motion impact remains significant, so only weapons of the same type as your current class/job can be projected.
