Evil Empire today (October 28, 2025) released a major update titled “New Dawn” for the rogue-lite action game Brotato.
The game follows Brotato, a potato who survived after crashing onto an alien planet, as he fights to stay alive while waiting for his allies to rescue him—offering a top-down arena shooter experience. It’s what is commonly known as a “vanilla-like” title, and as of this article’s writing has received over 97,000 reviews, earning an overwhelmingly positive rating.
Recently, it was revealed that Evil Empire—known for handling DLCs for titles like Dead Cells—has taken over development of this game. This update marks Evil Empire’s first major release since assuming control.
The update introduces a variety of new features, including six new items and one new weapon, the long-requested “Ban system,” a “Profile Save System” allowing up to three save files, and a “Codex” that enables players to view information about items, weapons, and enemies.
