Firaxis Games has announced that the turn-based strategy game “Sid Meier’s Civilization VII” (available on PC, Switch2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One) will receive its latest update, version 1.3.0, on November 4, 2025, introducing a new content collection titled “Tides of Power.”
The “Tides of Power” content collection will be released in two parts. The first part, launching on November 4, introduces a new leader: Edward Teach, along with two new civilizations: Tonga and The Republic of Pirates.
The second part is scheduled for release in December, featuring the powerful leader Sayyida al-Hurra, as well as the addition of the new civilizations the Ottomans and Iceland.
Additionally, update 1.3.0 will focus on sea-themed content. This includes new units and structures related to the sea—such as harbors and privateers—as well as oceanic resources. Strategic balance adjustments are also being implemented with this update.

“Sid Meier’s Civilization VII” Overview of Update 1.3.0 Released
On Monday, October 27, 2K and Firaxis released an article introducing the upcoming update 1.3.0 for “Sid Meier’s Civilization VII.”
The update 1.3.0 will include a sea-themed overhaul featuring oceanic resources, new units and buildings, combat mechanics, along with further balance adjustments—scheduled to be released next week. Additionally, the first part of the two-part sea-themed content collection, titled “Tides of Power,” will also launch simultaneously.
Part 1 includes the new leader Edward Teach and two new civilizations: Tonga and The Republic of Pirates. The second part, planned for December, will add the powerful leader Sayyida al-Hurra, as well as the new civilizations the Ottomans and Iceland. This “Tides of Power” content collection will be available to all players at no cost—so don’t miss it!
