NC Japan held its offline event “Lineage II Great Thank-You Festival: The Beginning of a New Legend” for the PC MMORPG Lineage II, currently in service, on October 26, 2025, in Tokyo.
The event, held approximately every two years, attracted around 200 Lineage II fans and featured participation from development staff who traveled from South Korea to engage with the community. This report covers highlights from the event, including the latest updates on the upcoming November 5 update “SAMURAI CROW,” live performances featuring traditional Japanese instruments inspired by the new “Crow” class, and more.

[Exclusive Offline Event Experiences: Orchestra Performances and More]
The event kicked off with members of “Rine2 TV,” dressed in kimonos. Then, Yuuji Arai, the Japanese general producer for this title, appeared on stage wearing a cosplay outfit of the new class “Crow,” officially launching the festivities.

The first activity featured a live performance of Lineage II music arranged for traditional Japanese instruments by the AUN J Classic Orchestra. Although familiar melodies were transformed into entirely new sounds, attendees were captivated. The orchestra’s performance later appeared on “Rine2 TV,” so those interested can check it out there.
Next up was the “Team Battle! Lineage II Quiz Contest.” Participants formed teams around tables and answered quiz questions. Correct answers increased or decreased their Adena Coins (used for a gacha system available at event end). This prompted participants to use every trick possible in fierce competition.
There were 10 total quiz questions—ranging from basic service knowledge to difficult ones—and many attendees appeared deeply engaged, struggling with the challenges. With only about one minute per question, there wasn’t much time for cheating. The most unexpectedly energetic segment was the “Blood Alliance Recruitment! Blood Alliance Draft Meeting.” In this section, blood alliance leaders (or those with membership authority) took the stage to promote their alliances and recruit new members.
Initially few participants joined due to the high barrier of going on stage, but numbers gradually increased—eventually surpassing ten alliances taking turns pitching themselves directly to attendees. Then, players considering joining began approaching each alliance leader, holding business cards. Producer Arai commented afterward: “This was an unprecedented event—we didn’t know how it would turn out, but the turnout was incredibly heartening.”
There were even moments of intense rivalry as competing blood alliances clashed in recruitment efforts—some focused on hunting, others on social interaction—showcasing a wide variety of alliance styles. After the draft meeting, venue facilities opened freely. Participants competed in activities like high-low gambling, archery, and ring toss to earn Adena Coins. [Rine2 TV “Out-of-Office Edition!” – Live Broadcast Reveals Latest Updates]
In the second half of the event, a live stream was broadcast from the venue as part of the official show “Rine2 TV: Special Out-of-Office Edition! Great Thank-You Festival Live Stream,” unveiling new information including details about the global project “SAMURAI CROW.”
*Note: For this occasion only, “out-of-office” is pronounced “debari.”
Following the opening performance by AUN J Classic Orchestra, Producer Arai explained that the global project would feature the first-ever “simultaneous worldwide update,” enabling players across the globe to play at the same pace. He introduced the project’s catchphrase and unveiled its main content: a new character based on the Yatagarasu (the three-legged crow), named “Crow,” along with a new server, also called “Crow.”

The new character, “Crow,” is a melee physical damage dealer who can transform into Kamael. The class will be implemented in Eva and Aden services, featuring unique idle animations.
The event also revealed the new area “Crow Village.” With blooming cherry blossoms and traditional Japanese architecture, this zone significantly differs from the established Lineage II world. NPCs voiced by Tanaka are featured here—adding an extra layer of exploration.

Additional details were also revealed for the new server “Crow.” This server features three key characteristics:
- A reimagined non-PvP zone from the Eva server, creating a “Peace Zone across all areas” where character development is prioritized.
- A “Focused Play Time” system enabling efficient hunting and increased chances to defeat raid bosses.
- Large-scale cooperative content where players can earn rewarding rewards through teamwork.

The global project “SAMURAI CROW” will officially launch on November 5, 2025, at 8:00 PM. Players aiming to make a strong start should prepare in advance.
Beyond the global project, updates for both Live and Classic services were also announced.
In Live Service, a new raid called “Baluan” and an instant dungeon named “The Altar of Kharox” will be introduced. The Altar of Kharox is a daily challenge where rewards vary based on in-game choices.

In Classic Service, two new features are being added:
- A special hunting zone called “Orbis’s Sanctuary,” where difficulty increases between upper and lower layers.
- A time-limited hunting area in a PvE-exclusive region, named “The Ancient Island.”
After the update conference, the highly popular segment “Ask Your Favorite General Producer!” took place. This time, due to its “Out-of-Office Edition,” it featured Kim Koon-young, Lead of Lineage II’s Overseas Project Team from South Korea.
Kim Koon-young looked visibly overwhelmed by the onslaught of questions. For each query, he was granted up to three “gives up” options—but with a penalty: every time he gave up, players received an extra gift. Thumbnail image No.042 / Report on the “Lineage II Great Thank-You Festival” offline event where new information about “SAMURAI CROW” was unveiled
The session included two questions each from the different services and two audience-submitted questions, addressed by Kim Koon-young (with support from Arai).
● Eva / Aden Service
Q: Can we set a valid range for auto-hunting?
(For long-range classes, targeting enemies out of reach causes motion issues. For melee classes, chasing targets can lead to unexpected battles.)
A: The game balances different class ranges and limitations accordingly. Auto-hunt behavior is based on these constraints. Issues like excessive pursuit or missed attacks will be addressed by the first or second quarter of next year (Kim Koon-young).
Q: Can we add a cap for limited crafting?
A: We understand your concerns about high crafting costs. These points will be reviewed after the event. For example, failed crafts could yield specific tokens or items that can be collected to attempt crafting again—expanding such systems is something we aim to improve (Kim Koon-young).
● Live Service
Q: Can we implement World Siege Battles (Dimensional Sieges)?
A: Give up (Kim Koon-young).
We can work on this through events and community feedback, as it’s within our operational reach (Yuuji Arai).
Q: There’s a big difference between Dislone and general hunting zones—can general hunters get similar benefits?
A: We plan to heavily update Dislone content in the first half of next year. We’ll improve efficiency in general hunting zones so they aren’t significantly behind Dislone. Targeting implementation for Q1 2026 (Kim Koon-young).
● Classic Service
Q: Why are Classic Service updates so rare, even after this update? And when will the new class “Crow” be implemented?
A: There are currently no plans to implement the new class “Crow.” However, content allowing players to enjoy Crow’s avatar is scheduled for release (Kim Koon-young).
(In effect, this amounted to a “give up” on answering.)
Q: We’ve repeatedly suggested refining hunting zones—but why haven’t updates come?
A: Interestingly, Japan actually has more abundant hunting grounds than Korea. Still, even though we’ve been told it’s needed, increasing them is difficult—so I’ll use my “give up” privilege (Kim Koon-young).
Next, questions from the audience were addressed.
● Eva Service
Q: Is there any plan for server consolidation?
A: We’ve conducted tests on server integration—technically feasible—but currently no plans to proceed (Kim Koon-young).
Q: Lineage II isn’t very welcoming to newcomers. Why doesn’t the official website even feature job descriptions? It’s hard to recommend it to others.
A: I deeply empathize with this concern, and we’ve been trying to improve coverage with each update—but still feel there’s a gap. Currently, more returning players than new ones are joining, so our priority has been supporting returnees. As such, support for newcomers is lacking (Kim Koon-young).
There’s also room for improvement from the Japanese operations team—I’ll treat this as my own personal task (Yuuji Arai).
● Live Service
Q: Can we increase the circulation of Dragon Claws?
A: We recognize that enhancement systems have been lagging. We’ll review detailed data and explore ways to improve them (Kim Koon-young).
Q: Do you conduct pre-testing on test servers before events or updates?
A: Yes, we do (Yuuji Arai).
I truly apologize—we must raise the completion quality of our releases even further (Kim Koon-young).
● Classic Service
Q: More rewards are needed when blood alliance levels increase.
A: We acknowledge that current blood alliance level rewards are low—but internally, this is a lower priority item, which explains the delay. Still, we clearly understand how players feel about their alliances and will continue to address it. However, I can’t specify exact timing here—please check our website for updates (Kim Koon-young).
Q: For high-level completion rewards, please bring back Saiha’s Storm. If not possible, increase the number of SS exchange vouchers.
A: We recognize there are areas in level design that need fixing. We’ll prioritize improvements based on what players can easily perceive (Kim Koon-young).
Notably, before addressing Classic Service questions, Kim Koon-young stated: “I’d like to meet directly with fans and hear their thoughts firsthand.” Later during the grand raffle session, he personally visited each table to speak with attendees.
● Aden Service
Q: Can we get a buff in siege battles that removes character specs so all players are on equal footing? I want to play fair sieges.
A: Siege battles were designed to allow players to use their fully trained characters. But we recognize it’s hard for underdeveloped characters to enjoy them.
To address this, Dislone was created. However, the NON-PvP zones in Dislone are crowded, and PvE zones have few people but are difficult to hunt—so our goal is to create a better environment that suits everyone’s playstyle, aiming for implementation between Q1 and Q2 2026.
Although this question didn’t exhaust Kim Koon-young’s three “gives up,” due to Yozaki’s (MC) clever strategy, he ended up using all three—and thus earned the bonus gift rewards. We hope players make good use of them.
