Cygames’ training game “Umamusume Pretty Derby” (iOS / Android / PC) will release its new training scenario, “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town” (hereafter referred to as the “Hot Spring Town Arc”), on October 29, 2025 at 12:00 PM.

I attended the exclusive preview event for media outlets, so here’s my play report.

This article primarily focuses on introducing the gimmicks and gameplay experience of this new training scenario. Please note that the version used at the preview event was still in “final balance adjustment,” meaning it may differ slightly from the final release—still, I hope you find it helpful as a reference.

The stage is a struggling hot spring town! All distances covered, with a duration up to URA Finals

As previously announced via the official program “Paka Live TV,” this arc takes place at URA’s wellness facility: Yukoma Hot Spring Town.

Uma Musume who have been exhausted from busy daily lives suddenly receive an invitation for healing relaxation from Yukoma Hot Spring Town. However, the town is on the brink of collapse—?

Yunohana Bloom (CV: Ai Kayano)

Two new characters join this arc—Hikaru Hosako, the innkeeper of Yukoma Hot Spring Town, and Yunohana Bloom, her apprentice currently undergoing training.

Hosako was once a trainer herself, while Yunohana Bloom used to be one of her former Uma Musume.

In this scenario, a new support card appears: the SSR “[Laid-back, Yukoma Inn] Hikaru Hosako.” Like regular friend supports, she provides significant benefits during training in this arc.

SSR “[Genius Utopia] Toukai Teio” Thumbnail image No.023 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

A new speed support card also debuts: the SSR “[Genius Utopia] Toukai Teio.” This one particularly excels in boosting early-stage Uma Musume training.

Details on some of their abilities can be confirmed via the images shown during “Paka Live TV.”

Additionally, the Hot Spring Town arc is a full-distance scenario—meaning there are no distance restrictions on evolution skills.

Regarding base stat caps:

Speed | Stamina | Power | Determination | Intelligence
—|—|—|—|— +700 | +600 | +500 | +500 | +200

Notably, overall stat caps have increased compared to the Island arc. Speed can now reach up to 1900, and stamina cap is also higher than in the previous arc—now at 1800.

As with the Island arc, this scenario sets Uma Musume-specific target races, and the training period extends until the conclusion of the URA Finals.

The characters involved in this arc’s scenario links are: Toukai Teio, Mihono Bluebon, Transcendence, Hokko Taramae, Wonder Acute, and Hikaru Hosako.

We’ve already uncovered the scenario link effects and rare skills available at the end of this arc—so let’s take a look:

Uma Musume | Scenario Skill | Scenario Link Effect
—|—|— Toukai Teio | Unstoppable | Digging power against sand layers increases by +10.
Skills obtained from skill events evolve from Normal to Rare.
Mihono Bluebon | Unyielding Shadow | Digging power against soil layers increases by +10.

Transcendence | Concentration | Digging power against soil layers increases by +10.
Skills obtained from skill events evolve from Normal to Rare.
Hokko Taramae | Masterful Sand Kick | Digging power against rock layers increases by +10.
Skills obtained from skill events evolve from Normal to Rare.
Wonder Acute | Relentless Pursuit | Digging power against rock layers increases by +10.
Skills obtained from skill events evolve from Normal to Rare.
Hikaru Hosako | Wholehearted Effort | Increases chance of super recovery when hot spring power activates.
Increases number of bath tickets acquired.
Skills obtained from skill events evolve from Normal to Rare.

While the scenario link effects may seem unclear at first glance, we’ll cover more details about these mechanics later.

For a small subset of readers: this arc lets you obtain “Concentration” from Transcendence. A skill that helps prevent falling behind—essential if aiming for top rankings in November’s League of Heroes.

Using the “Hot Spring” command grants various effects, including recovery. No turn cost—same as Overdrive

Now let’s dive into this arc’s mechanics in detail. Note: UI has been updated so that health points now appear directly on the training screen, allowing you to check precise numbers.

In addition to regular actions, players can choose a new command: “Hot Spring.” This requires using bath tickets obtained through events. Think of it as similar to the “Overdrive” mechanic from the Mechamusa arc.

※ Details about how to obtain bath tickets are covered later.

The “Hot Spring” command does not consume turns, just like Overdrive. Using it grants various effects—such as health recovery, increased bond gauge, boosted morale, and enhanced training effectiveness.

Effects from activating Hot Spring Power Thumbnail image No.003 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

The “Hot Spring” command can trigger super recovery when your health is low. Super recovery events are clearly indicated—just like in L’Arc’s SSS matches—and allow temporary healing up to 150 HP, exceeding the current maximum.

Additionally, you may also earn Skill Points (Pt) +100 or skill hints during these activations. Thus, how often you perform super recovery becomes crucial for training success. We’ve confirmed that this state can be triggered via SSR Hikaru Hosako’s “Outing” ability as well.

Digging into the “Spring” to enhance hot spring effects. “Secret Spring Yukoma” greatly boosts all effects

The effects of the “Hot Spring” command can be enhanced by digging into new springs. Once a spring is fully dug, its effect gets added to the hot spring’s overall power—meaning each successful dig strengthens the “Hot Spring” ability.

Spring digging begins three turns after training starts. First, you must select which spring to dig. Since different springs offer varying effects, it’s wise to choose based on your target stats or support team composition.

Each spring has a “layer” type: Sand, Soil, or Rock—three distinct types.

Screen showing enhancement of digging equipment. When selecting the spring to dig, you can upgrade one piece of gear by one level Thumbnail image No.005 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

When choosing which spring to dig, you can also upgrade your digging equipment. These passive gear items automatically activate and are tailored for specific layers—Sand, Soil, or Rock. Match the gear to the layer of the spring you’re targeting.

Each piece of equipment is linked to three base stats. The digging power increases based on current values of these stats and related blue factors.

For example:

  • Sand-layer digger “Hole Digger” → Speed, Intelligence, Stamina
  • Soil-layer digger “Earth Drill” → Determination, Speed, Power
  • Rock-layer digger “Metal Crown” → Power, Intelligence, Stamina

While you don’t need to be overly meticulous at first, it’s worth paying attention as you get more familiar.

Progress of digging can be checked via the digging gauge on the left side of the training screen. The “263” shown indicates progress for this spring Thumbnail image No.006 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

Once the digging gauge reaches maximum, digging is complete—and the new spring’s effect gets added to the “Hot Spring” command. You can then select the next spring to dig. At this stage, you may also upgrade your digging equipment.

Additionally, whether a spring has already been dug can be checked anytime via the Spring Map command.

As training progresses, more springs become available for excavation Thumbnail image No.007 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

The number of available springs increases based on the Inn Rank—a mechanic we’ll cover later. During this preview, we confirmed that a particularly powerful spring called “Secret Spring Yukoma” appears mid-arc.

This one boosts friendship training effectiveness by +45% for Speed and +60% for all other stats—making it highly recommended to prioritize digging this spring.

Digging springs raises the “Inn Rank.” Gains passive buffs, affects annual “Bath Gathering”

Screen showing Inn Rank Thumbnail image No.008 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

In this arc, digging springs raises your “Inn Rank.” It starts as a “Neglected Hot Spring Inn,” gradually evolving into “Talk-of-the-Town Hot Spring Inn” and eventually “Famous Hot Spring Inn.”

With each rank increase, passive buffs are granted. Initially, there’s nothing—but as you level up, effects like increased success rate for favorite skills or more skill hints during super recovery get added. At the highest rank, we confirmed that super recovery becomes guaranteed.

Thumbnail image No.010 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

The Inn Rank also affects the annual “Bath Gathering” event held at year-end.

This is judged based on whether you meet your target Inn Rank by the time of the Bath Gathering. Meeting the goal grants:

  • “Good Bath” rating in first and second gatherings
  • “Gokuraku” (Extremely Relaxing) rating in third gathering

Higher ratings unlock rewards: all base stats and Skill Points, plus scenario-specific skill hints from the final Bath Gathering.

On difficulty—during this playthrough, I successfully met every goal. The targets aren’t overly strict or demanding.

Bath tickets can be obtained through special events, friends’ outings, PR activities—and even influence your team composition?

Thumbnail image No.011 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

Now, let’s cover how to obtain bath tickets for using the “Hot Spring” command.

You receive 2 bath tickets each at:

  • First spring selection
  • Completion of first spring digging
  • Just before summer camp
  • At final Bath Gathering

Thumbnail image No.022 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

However, except at the first spring selection, the number of tickets you receive depends on whether Hikaru Hosako (SSR) is in your support team. The quantity varies depending on her rarity—so to get the maximum amount, you must include SSR Hikaru Hosako.

Unlike other cases such as Takkabrain, performance unlock level doesn’t affect this condition—meaning even an un-upgraded SSR can satisfy it if included.

PR activities are accessible from the far-right option in the training screen. You also receive 1 bath ticket per PR activity Thumbnail image No.014 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan. Thumbnail image No.015 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

Additionally, you can earn 1 bath ticket by selecting the “PR Activity” option during training. This also grants small amounts of Skill Points and base stats.

Note: You cannot perform PR activities during summer camp—be mindful of this. We’ve also confirmed that digging doesn’t progress during summer camp.

Play feel is light, similar to Island arc. Achieved over 7000 Skill Pt without racing outside targets

Now, regarding the Skill Points earned, a concern for many trainers: even without participating in races beyond target ones, I still managed to exceed 7,000 Skill Points.

Given this was just my first playthrough, further optimization of strategy could easily increase that number. Base stats were easier to raise than before—making it feel like you can achieve stronger training results compared to the Island arc.

Thumbnail image No.016 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

On playtime, this arc feels comparable to the Island arc—relatively lightweight compared to past scenarios. Though it may take time initially when choosing springs, once you settle into a rhythm, progress becomes quick and smooth.

Additionally, during auto-training mode, we confirmed that you can set priority for which spring to dig first—similar to how facility priorities work in the Island arc.

Thumbnail image No.017 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

One more note: during the preview event, I didn’t fully utilize SSR Hikaru Hosako’s “Outing” ability. It felt similar to how L’Arc’s SSR Saka Mio is used—so if you want rare skill rewards, be sure to actively use her outings.

Also, going on outings with Hikaru may grant bath tickets or enable super recovery—suggesting it might be worth being aggressive in outings even when health isn’t a concern. I didn’t observe this effect during the two training sessions here—but it’s something definitely worth testing after release.

While there are many mechanics to master, overall, you can achieve above-average training just by playing normally, much like the Island arc—despite the abundance of content. Choosing powerful springs intuitively leads to decent results, making this a welcoming scenario even for beginners.

The preview event concluded with an “Auto-training” media vs. Cygames race. The track: Hanshin Turf 1600m

As a side note, the preview event ended with a media vs. Cygames race using auto-training. The course was Hanshin Turf 1600m, featuring one character per media outlet plus one from Cygames—totaling 10 racers.

I chose Bubblegum Fellow, which suits my preferred style and track aptitude. The pace distribution featured: 1 runner going for the lead, 2 early runners (including myself), with most others in back-strategy positions.

Thumbnail image No.018 / [Play Report] First look at new Umamusume training scenario “Gokuraku♪ Yukoma Hot Spring Town.” Dig for hot springs and revive a forgotten ryokan.

My Bubblegum Fellow maintained a good position in mid-race, then overtook the leader, Vilschina, near the final stretch. I activated “Angling × Skimming” while leading—but was overtaken at the finish line by strong late surges and finished 4th.

The winner was Still In Love (AUTOMATON), who narrowly defeated Narita Taishin (Dengeki Online) and Admire Vega (Famitsu). Though it stings to lose, I’ll still say “Well played” for my favorite Still’s victory.

Final results:

1st: Still In Love (AUTOMATON)
2nd: Narita Taishin (Dengeki Online)
3rd: Admire Vega (Famitsu)
