Eliminating gacha for characters/weapons and stamina system—reimagining the traditional gameplay experience
What makes this title stand out is not only its beautiful anime-style graphics and accessible, exhilarating action mechanics that anyone can enjoy—but also its bold departure from conventional social game norms. The developers have completely removed character and weapon gacha systems, as well as stamina mechanics.
Monetization is now limited to cosmetic items such as costumes and visual effects, adding further enjoyment to the game’s highly customizable character creation system.

During the hands-on demo, we enjoyed a story told from two protagonists’ perspectives and fast-paced combat. Although limited playtime prevented us from fully experiencing the grand narrative arc, clear guidance helped maintain immersion in both battle and storytelling.

We primarily played as Berenika. The combat offered enjoyable variety between wide-range melee attacks and easy-to-use ranged abilities, while stylish action sequences enhanced immersion. Solving puzzles and finding solutions in the varied terrain provided a satisfying sense of progression. Smooth interaction with field items reflects the developers’ meticulous attention to comfortable controls.

Producer Deca Bear Shares His Thoughts
4Gamer:
First, could you tell us what kind of experience you want players to take away from “Duet Night Abyss”?
Deca Bear:
In today’s social game market, obtaining characters through gacha has become the norm—but this often places immense pressure on players right from the start. To create a stress-free environment, we designed our system around eliminating gacha entirely. With no more rarity or rank levels for characters, there are no inherent differences between them. This allows players to freely focus on and enjoy the unique traits of their favorite characters.
4Gamer:
That makes sense.
Deca Bear:
It’s quite common for players to miss out on key storylines simply because they couldn’t obtain a desired character—thus missing the chance to fully immerse themselves in the game world. But in this title, every character is available free of charge. Players can thus make full use of each character’s unique strengths and playstyles. As a result, we’re able to deliver the entire game as one cohesive, complete experience—a key priority for our development team.
4Gamer:
There were many heartfelt messages from fans on the large message board at the booth. Do you have any words for them?
Deca Bear:
Starting with our official launch on October 28, we plan to continue providing long-term service under a sustainable strategy. As producer and alongside our entire team, we will work together tirelessly to deliver increasingly better, more exciting content to all of our players!
4Gamer:
Thank you very much.
