This title is the first in the Pokkēmon series to introduce real-time Pokémon battles as an action RPG. It features unique “battle × action” gameplay that differs from traditional command-based systems.
The game’s setting is Miare City, a metropolis undergoing urban redevelopment. During the day, players explore the city streets and encounter wild Pokémon in designated “Wild Zones” scattered throughout town—battling them or capturing them to add to their team. At night, a red hologram-enclosed “Battle Zone” appears somewhere in the city, where trainers compete in intense battles as part of the “ZA Royale.”
The player’s goal is to challenge the ZA Royale with their trained Pokémon and strive to become the strongest Pokémon trainer.
